The 2015 Mobility Roadshow will soon be upon us – here, we preview what those making the trip to Derby’s Donington Park can expect…
If the latest announcements by organisers Mobility Choice are any indication, the 2015 Mobility Roadshow is set to be the most cosmopolitan yet. The regular test drive event and product showcase will feature a range of UK exhibitors as always, but also see something of an increased international presence.
Among those making the trip will be the Dutch company Bever Car Products, developer of the first electronic brake system to be specifically aimed at the car adaptation market, there to unveil its new SmartBrake and SmartGas products in the UK the first time.
Välkommen, accoglienza, velkommen
Elsewhere, Swedish firm and show sponsor Autoadapt will be demonstrating a driver assessment rig with support from its UK team at Elap – a vehicle adaptations specialist that supplies a range of assisted vehicle seating, wheelchair lifts and hoists and independent driving aids.
Italy’s Guidosimplex will meanwhile be exhibiting a complete range of driving devices for people with reduced mobility. A long-standing supporter of the Mobility Roadshow, it will also be showcasing its lightweight passenger transfer solutions and Accelerator Ring range, designed to provide assisted safer steering.
Representing Denmark is Dahl Engineering, which will be launching the latest generation of its Dahl Docking System. Among its improvements is a new automatic lap and diagonal occupant restraint system and the ability to secure wheelchairs weighing up to 200kg with a ground clearance from as little as 60mm.
Visitors to this year’s event will also be able to pick up some practical advice on holidaying abroad. Among this exhibitor line-up will be Freedom Mobility – New Zealand’s largest mobility vehicle rental company, which can provide wheelchair accessible vehicles, as well as cars with powered lifting seats and other modifications. Also present will be representatives from the HausRheinsberg Hotel am See in Brandenburg, Germany – a wheelchair accessible lakeside hotel specifically designed to welcome disabled holidaymakers and their relatives, friends and carers.
As ever, visitors to the Mobility Roadshow will be able explore other areas beyond motoring alone.
The Donington Exhibition Hall will this year be playing host to, among others, Invacare, Cyclone Mobility, Gerald Simonds, TGA Mobility and EasyRise, creator of the Genie V2 standing wheelchair.
Finally, younger visitors with driving aspirations will be able to get some hands-on experience behind the wheel. The 2015 Mobility Roadshow will once again be incorporating the Get Going Live! event, at which young people aged 15 and up will have the unique opportunity to drive themselves around the legendary Donington Park Motorsport circuit in dual-control vehicles accompanied by trained professionals. Test drives pre-registrations are now open, with further details available at the Mobility Roadshow website.
